Flagrante Delicto - A Classic 1947 Chris Craft Express Cruiser - "Red n' White":Flagrante is a truly fantastic boat. It is small enough for me to handle by myself, yet big enough to cruise long distances with a simpatico boat mate or carry many friends out for an afternoon water adventure. She handles bad weather well ... I trust her in heavy seas. I currently have a somewhat "under pitched" prop on her ... so ... she doesn't go as fast as she could. That's fine with me. I don't like pounding the old gal ... and ... she still gets where she is going quick enough for me. I have owned Flagrante for about 15 years. When I bought her, she was in bad condition. The decks, transom, ceiling (cockpit inside walls), were all plywood in a state of hurt. The cabin leaked. The engine was shot. The bilge pump ran way to frequently. Well, I spent the first 10 years (and more money than I want to even think about) fixing her up. With the help of two cantankerous but fantastic boat carpenters and the aid of the always super helpful "Mr. Red N' White", Dick Dow, she was gradually made right. This was a top down and bottom up, no expense spared restoration. Now, Flagrante has varnished mahogany decks, transom and ceilings; a new (well ... new in Flagrante, anyway) engine; solid as a rock decks and hull; all new electrical system, new upholstery and other improvements to numerous to mention. Over the last seven years, since Flagrante's restoration was complete, I have cruised her just about everywhere you can go in Puget Sound and the US and Canadian San Juan Islands ... many hundreds of miles. The boat has been a magic carpet ... taking my friends and I into great adventures in wonderful places. Below are some words and pictures that say a little more about this fantastic boat.
